MPACT ANNOUNCES NEW BOARD MEMBERS TO ADVANCE GLOBAL IMPACT

Mpact Global, the leading global organization advancing queer health and human rights, announced the appointment of two new Board of Directors members: Matt Morden and Sam Stryker. Their combined expertise in technology, public policy, culture, strategic partnerships, and community building will help Mpact strengthen cross-sector collaboration, make complex issues more accessible, and drive meaningful progress for queer communities worldwide. 

Mpact Welcomes New Board Members

The announcement comes as Alex Garner steps into the role as Mpact's Interim Executive Director. Garner brings 35 years of experience in queer organizing and HIV advocacy to the role, including five years with Mpact as Managing Director, and has long been a voice for building queer community, fostering leadership, and advancing health equity for gay, bisexual, and queer men worldwide.

"HIV funding has been severely cut, and the world is growing more hostile toward queer people. While governments and institutions have criminalized or abandoned our queer communities, Mpact continues to cultivate and invest in gay, bisexual, and queer leaders and organizations," said Garner. "Over the past two decades, Mpact has partnered with and strengthened more than 120 community-based organizations across over 60 countries, supporting locally led responses to HIV and advancing health equity for queer communities globally. We are confident that our new board members will strengthen the organization and allow us to continue this important work for our community"

Matt Morden leads travel partnerships at Grindr, the world’s largest LGBTQ+ platform, connecting its 15 million monthly users with leading global travel brands. Previously, he managed corporate partnership development at the International LGBTQ+ Travel Association (IGLTA), forming strategic partnerships with major airlines, tourism boards, and hotel groups. Matt is a graduate of the Ivey School of Business at Western University in Ontario, Canada. He now lives in California with his husband, Sam.

Sam Stryker is a creative director whose work sits at the intersection of media, entertainment, and tech. Throughout his career, his work has championed queer stories, voices, and creatives. He previously served on the board of West Hollywood Aquatics, an LGBTQ+ swim team with a storied history. He currently lives in Los Angeles with his husband.

Mpact Global 

Mpact Global was founded in 2006 as The Global Forum on MSM & HIV (MSMGF) by an international group of activists who were concerned about the disproportionate HIV burden being shouldered by gay and bisexual men. The organization has since expanded its work to focus on the broader sexual health and human rights needs of all men who have sex with men.

Mpact is the only global organization committed to building community for gay, bisexual, and queer men and dedicated to protecting and defending human rights. The diverse team brings a global perspective on issues concerning the health, equality, and justice for gay and bisexual men.
