Our Team
Experts dispersed across regions, reflecting a diverse global perspective — led by an international Board of Directors and a Steering Committee representing every major region of the world, the majority ages 29 and under.
Alex Garner has crafted strategies, managed global programs, and led communications at MPact. Prior to MPact her was the Senior Health Innovation Strategist at Hornet, the gay social networking app. He crafted all sexual health messaging, developed social marketing campaigns, created digital content for a global audience, and led Hornet’s research efforts. Alex has over 25 years of experience working as a community organizer. He has been a freelance writer for over two decades, capturing the experiences and perspectives of the queer community. As a writer and an artist, he has utilized the cultural arts to advance the narratives of LGBT communities.
Axel Bautista is the Director of Programs at MPact Global Action. Born and raised in Mexico City, Mexico, which is where he currently lives. He studied sociology at UNAM and has been working in the HIV field since 2016, with a particular focus on human rights, healthcare access, community building and empowerment, activism, and social media content. As part of MPact, he has lead different community projects all across Latin America and the USA, addressing and advocating for the queer HIV+ community. He has had the opportunities to engage with UNAIDS and WHO as a community advocate, and has helped to stablished different networks of queer HIV+ activists in Mexico.
A Colombian marketing PMO and digital growth leader based in Mexico City, Jesús leads social media and email marketing that amplify queer voices and support global advocacy.

An international group of activists forms The Global Forum on MSM & HIV to confront the disproportionate HIV burden on gay and bisexual men.
The forum becomes Mpact Global Action for Gay Men's Health and Rights, expanding to broader sexual health and human rights work.
With four regional networks under the Robert Carr Fund, Mpact launches the global Right To campaign for the rights of people living with HIV.

While governments and institutions have criminalized or abandoned our queer communities, Mpact cultivates and invests in gay, bisexual, and queer leaders and organizations, strengthening their capacity to protect community health, defend their rights, and build sustainable movements that will outlast crises or short-lived programs. That work is shaped from within the communities we serve — grounded in lived experience, and in the trust that lets people access sexual health support and determine their own futures.
