OPPORTUNITY: TEACH Technical Advisor

The IRGT: A Global Network of Trans Women and HIV is seeking expressions of interest from trans-identified individuals to become Technical Advisors for a new program called Trans Education + Action = Capacity for Health (TEACH).

TEACH is an IRGT-MSMGF initiative designed to strengthen the capacity of trans-led organizations to more competitively apply for grant funding and build local organizational capacity to effectively respond to the HIV/AIDS epidemic. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

All successful applicants will be required to participate in a global-level training-of-trainers in Bangkok, Thailand in July 2017 and complete the necessary requirements to become a TEACH Technical Advisor. Upon completion of the training program, TEACH Technical Advisors will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Deliver high-quality regional trainings, primarily to trans-led organizations, in the following subject areas:
    • Community engagement and mobilization
    • Basic terminology, HIV epidemiology, and HIV-related service needs of transgender communities
    • Grant proposal development
    • Program design and implementation
    • Budgeting
    • Project staffing
    • Evaluation
  • Deliver post-training capacity building assistance and coaching to regional trainees and their local organizations using virtual mechanisms
  • Comply with project-related monitoring and reporting requirements

Who Should Apply?

Interested individuals should meet the following requirements:

  • Must be a member of the trans community
  • Must demonstrate English language proficiency (reading, writing, and speaking)
  • Must have proven skill or prior experience delivering trainings on HIV, human rights, trans issues, and/or organizational capacity building
  • Reside in one of the three regions where trainings will be delivered:
    • Sub-Saharan Africa;
    • Asia and the Pacific; and
    • Latin America and the Caribbean
  • Must be able/willing to travel internationally
    • Training of Trainers
    • One Regional Training


TEACH Technical Advisors will be engaged by the MSMGF as consultants/independent contractors. 

TEACH Technical Advisors will receive travel support (transportation, lodging, and per diem) as well as a stipend for work completed. 

All funds will be delivered via wire transfer, thus each Technical Advisor must possess a bank account.

Travel support and arrangements will be provided by MSMGF. A small stipend will be provided for attendance at the Training of Trainers in addition to travel support.
