A WELL KNOWN gay activist and another man were Tuesday night ‘busted’ by staff at Wallet bar on Tom Mboya street for ‘lewd acts’ in the bar’s restroom.
According to the management, the two men were drinking at the bar last evening and had spent talking for hours before one of them headed to the restrooms and the other followed raising eyebrows from the staff and guards.
The two are alleged to have entered one of the stalls where they engaged in ‘lewd acts’ as the security of the bar waited to pounce on them.
The gay activist is said to have been the first to leave the stall and was apprehended after trying to escape.
They were later taken to the manager’s office where the two were said to have been roughed up by some of the bouncers and issued with threats of arrest.
It is said the management had contacted the police who said they were on the way to arrest the two.
The other man arrested is said to be a health activist from Coast who was in Nairobi for a training and was staying in one of the hotels nearby.
The management confirmed that the two men were later released. Unconfirmed sources say that the two paid money to be released. The activist could not be reached for comment as his phone went unanswered.
Cases of men engaging in sexual acts in bar’s restrooms are not uncommon. Reports say that bars like Club Envy, Tacos, Simmers have had cases where men are found engaging in sexual acts in restrooms.
Most of those who are arrested are either beaten up or evicted from the premises. Some buy their freedom by giving the management money.
