Call for HIV testing as new cases hit record

A record 195 new HIV cases were diagnosed in the third quarter of this year, again fueled by men having sex with men.

Hong Kong’s top HIV consultant said the number of new cases for the whole year would exceed 600 for the first time.

"The increase in the number is a record high, quarter by quarter, year by year, mainly driven by the men who have sex with men community," said Centre for Health Protection consultant Wong Ka- hing. "Hong Kong has been experiencing an MSM epidemic since a few years back.
