2012 Black Gay Research Summit Designing a Decade: A New Agenda for Black Gay Research & Practice

Published: February 13, 2012

Dear Summit Participants,

On behalf of the BGRG Board of Directors, planning committee, sponsors, and partners, we
would like to welcome you to the 2012 Black Gay Research Summit. This event is the fourth
Summit in the past decade, and it was designed to build on the successes of our previous
work, which demonstrate that strong collaborations and commitments to social justice are
key to improving the lives of Black gay men.

The theme of this year’s Summit is: Designing A Decade: A New Agenda For Black Gay
Research and Practice. We chose this theme to provide an important opportunity to look
back at the successes, challenges, and lessons learned over the last 10 years of research with
Black gay men’s communities around the world. Moreover, this is an opportunity to take all
that we have learned and use it to chart an innovative culturally grounded course of research
for the next ten years that will have an even greater impact on the lives of Black gay men.
The Summit will highlight scientific research findings, implementation lessons learned, skillsbuilding
tools, and provide networking opportunities.

Again, thank you for your participation and we hope that you find the 2012 Summit to be the
most exciting and ambitious program to date.
