Re: MARPS IN UGANDA outraged at Closure of Capacity Development workshop
MOST AT RISK POPULATIONS’ SOCIETY IN UGANDA (MARPS IN UGANDA) and
many other organisations joins voices with the global community in solidarity to speak
against human rights violations perpetuated on the grounds of actual or perceived
sexual orientation, gender identity, expression and belief.
Closure of the Capacity Development workshop is one way of to keeping “minorities” in
a back ward era while all the “majorities” are empowering themselves to harness the
benefits of living in today’s world. This is not a welcome gesture. We reiterate the need
to assure values for and on behalf of all persons irrespective of their status, sex,
gender, creed or orientation. Perpetuating fear of a government supposed to be a
benefactor eats away at the desire to be involved in one’s country’s efforts to promote
social change and development.
